Bangkok is home to 14 million people from all over the country and is the ideal place to experience the many cultures of thailand’s different regions in one place as well as the latest trends and fashions from other countries in the region.

With its fusion of all things asian and Western, there is always something to see and do in Thailand’s bustling capital. You can join the locals shopping at the local markets in the morning and grab a delicious snack from one of the many street vendors call Bangkok’s pavements home.

Thais from all over the nation come here to work bringing their unique part of Thai culture with them. If you’re new to Thailand, it’s the best place to get a taste of the entire Thai culture.

At our Bangkok tefl/tesol training centre we have a working English school that teaches young learners and business professionals. The school is an authorized Cambridge English Test Centre with online computer-based assessment facilities.

Our training team has extensive experience in the TEFL/tesol industry including creating customized courses, curriculum development and providing specialized English training and workshops to many of the country’s blue-chip companies.

Our class sizes are kept small to ensure that trainees receive all the attention they need to help them succeed as an English teacher. On successful completion of the course trainees will receive lifetime job placement guidance as well as help with resume creation and job interview techniques.

The School

Our TEFL/TESOL training centre in Bangkok is located in the north of the city close to Kasetsart University, the country’s largest and third oldest university. We are also near to Bangkok’s famous “Elephant Building” a thirty-two storey building in the shape of an elephant.

In the local area you will find a cinema showing international and local movies and a shopping centre with a selection of boutique restaurants as well a number of fast food outlets plus banks and other services. The recent BTS Sky Train extension has seen the opening of the new Ratchayothin station, which is only some 300 meters from our training center. This station is on the original ‘green’ line which links directly to Sukhumvit and Silom roads—traditional business, commercial and entertainment centers of Bangkok.

The training centre itself has everything you’ll need to complete the course successfully. We are based in a three storey building in a pleasant open air mall with a school and there is Wi-Fi available throughout the building.

There are plenty of accommodation options available to you in Bangkok and these options go beyond the usual hotels and guesthouses with studio apartments and condos widely available.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are my payment options?

    Expand

Course deposits must be paid to our administrative centre. Credit/debit card payments are the fastest and cheapest way to pay, but we also accept payments via Pay Pal and bank transfer. Bear in mind that while there are no deadlines for a deposit, courses can fill up quickly and your seat will only be reserved after the deposit has been paid.

Once you make your deposit, you will receive an email with an informational packet that provides detailed information about the course and Bangkok itself.

The balance of your course fees is payable in cash, by credit/debit card or traveller’s check on the day your course begins.

Our fees are all-inclusive so you won’t be asked to pay additional costs for course related materials or services. This also includes course moderation and accreditation fees, lifetime job assistance and all our basic services.

  • What are my accommodation options?

    Expand

For our TEFL course in Bangkok we have developed a good working relationship with local accommodation providers who offer special monthly deals for our course students. All our recommended options are located close to the school and are safe, clean and comfortable.

Once you have confirmed your place on a course by paying the relevant deposit, we will send you further details of the available options. If you have any questions, special requests or require any other help in making a booking, we will be glad to provide all the assistance we can. You are also free to arrange your own accommodation if you prefer.

  • What travel documents will I need for Thailand?

    Expand

You will need a passport that’s still has at least 6 months validly before expiration.

As for entry into Thailand, you have two easy options (and other not as easy ones). The first is a Visa Exemption (VE). For visitors from most countries you will get a VE for 30 days. The VE is free on arrival and there is no paperwork involved. You just need to enter Thailand through an airport, which means a major port like Bangkok. (You won’t get a 30 day VE if you come overland through a neighboring country.)

VEs can be extended for an additional 30 days for a THB 1,900 fee.

Your other easy option is to enter Thailand on a 60 day Tourist Visa, which can be obtained from your local Thai embassy.

The advantage of a Tourist Visa over the VE approach is that a Tourist Visa can be changed into a visa that can be used for work. If you have a VE, you will eventually have to leave Thailand to secure the appropriate visa to work under.

    * Please note visa information is subject to change at any time. Please contact your local Thai consulate or embassy for updated information and the latest requirements.

  • What is the course schedule?

    Expand

Classes start at 10:00 a.m. Monday to Friday. During the day trainees will learn classroom management, grammar, language and culture and other practical aspects of the course.

    Lunch is between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The hours between 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. are spent preparing lessons with the assistance of the instructors and then afterward in the afternoon or early evening - from either 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. trainees teach their lessons to Thai students.

You will receive immediate feedback from the instructors after your observed lesson. You will not be teaching every afternoon, but you teach six to eight hours of observed teaching practice over the 4-week course.

On Friday, trainees are free after 1:00 p.m. and your weekend is also free.

This course is demanding. You will need to spend time after class and on weekends preparing teaching materials and completing various assignments.

  • What can I expect during teaching practice?

    Expand

Your observed teaching practice will typically take place with students aged 12 and over. Classses can range from one-to-one sessions to classrooms of 20 students. Your classes will be based on a real teaching curriculum.

Thai students are usually very friendly but can be somewhat shy. They can also be keen and enthusiastic to learn English and our trainee teachers usually have a very positive experience.

You will also have the opportunity to select and/or create your own teaching materials. You will have a lot of help in doing this and receive continuous input from your course trainer. You also get immediate feedback on your lesson after you deliver it. Your “practicum” will be assessed and documented. A satisfactory assessment is required to earn your TEFL/TESOL certificate.

  • Who can attend the TEFL course? Do I need to be native English speaker?

    Expand

To enrol on our course you need to be at least 18 years old. We do not have a maximum age limit, but you need to bear in mind that some institutions may not employ teachers beyond a certain age.

Course attendees do not need to be native English speakers but do need to be fluent in English. We consider fluency to be at least the C1 level on the CEFR scale of language proficiency.

  • Is there a dress code?

    Expand

For all input and tutorial sessions at the training location, casual attire is allowed.

During teaching practice there are specific requirements that adhere to the local dress code. All trainees are expected to dress professionally according to the following guidelines:

Women: Shoulders should be covered, blouses with sleeves are suggested. No low-cut necklines, very short skirts or bare midriffs. Open-toed shoes are acceptable, but not hiking or flip-flop sandals.

Men: Long pants, slacks or trousers are required, jeans are not acceptable. Short or long-sleeved shirts with a collar are necessary, a tie is recommended. Loafers or dress shoes are both fine, sandals are not acceptable. Long hair should always be tied back.

  • What should I bring for course studies?

    Expand

All course materials are provided by us.

The only things you need to bring are a notebook and a pen.

Please feel free to bring your laptop and/or any internet device you have as we have free Wi-Fi on all floors of our training center.

  • What documents do I need for finding employment after the course?

    Expand

It’s a good idea to bring original copies of your degree, course transcripts and any other relevant qualifications particularly if they relate to teaching.

Copies are usually sufficient in most situations but you may wish to have access to the originals without having to go home or have them sent to you.

You will receive your original TEFL Certificate from us upon successful completion of the course.

  • Do I need a degree to teach in Thailand?

    Expand

The answer to this is sometimes “Yes” and sometimes “No”.

There are many different types of employers of English teachers in Thailand. Universities, public and private schools, private tutoring schools and language institutes and private situations between a teacher and a student(s).

The Ministry of Education (MoE) does require foreign teachers to have degrees. Primary and secondary schools, both public and private, will require a bachelor’s degree in any major and your TEFL certificate.

Having said, that, there are many situation that don’t fall under the MoE’s jurisdiction. Teaching in one of Bangkok’s thousands of language schools does not require a degree. That’s a decision that will depend on the hiring authority.

Keep in mind that if you don’t have a degree, your TEFL certification becomes even more important because it demonstrates that you have the necessary training to be effective in the classroom.
