It was very helpful for me in understanding something of my experience of the last several months. I have been living in India learning a foreign language in an intensive 'immersion' style class. As an adult learner with a lot of study experience behind her, but not in languages, I have found the immersion-style classes challenging because we are not encouraged to seek explanations and meta-level understanding of the language, but only to speak, speak and speak as much as possible. This unit helped me to understand that I have been a bit rigid in wanting to learn the language in the way I might learn a new science or literature subject. It has also helped me to understand something of the concerns and challenges my teachers face.

I have also learnt that good students are directly related to one's skills as a teacher. To have good students one must be a good teacher. Being a good teacher will involve knowing when and how to use different roles in the classroom environment. I have also learnt that students have different motivations because of Age and also because of their level of ability. Culture also plays a role in the learning process. It is therefore very important to assess what level your students are at and also keep in mind their age and culture when planning how to go about teaching your students.

I have been teaching English for more than a year and had lack of knowledge of the methodological terminology. From this aspect it is good to study the first unit properly. I can say that now it is quite clear to me what makes a good teacher; which roles appeal to me; and, of course, which roles can be applied in an effective classroom. To revise major differences between young learners and adults in different aspects of learning such as motivation, behaviour, learning/life experience, language awareness and so forth is rather useful useful for me, and once again I have realized that cultural awareness and distinctive features of different language levels are crucial for an EFL/ESL teacher. In conclusion, I should say that I strongly agree with you that "a good teacher will always have good students"". I would also like to add that being a good teacher means first of all being a good person."

Im this unit i learned differnt roles of a teacher and that it is important for a teacher to be able to switch to differnt roles during lessons depending on the need. I felt that this unit was helpful in a variety of different ways. First, it provided the basis of the classroom structure. It allowed me to explore the roles in which I will play as an English teacher in a foreign country. It also allowed me to think about my relationship with my future students and how I can successfully engage with them. This unit sparked an increased enthusiasm in me for my new position as a teacher in thailand. I enjoyed being able to explore the qualities in myself that I believe will be an asset to my students. I was also reminded that I will need to identify qualities in order to pin-point different learning styles and ways to adapt to those different styles.

The objective I obtained from this unit is the fact that there are about 9 qualities that make a good teacher. Teachers have 9 roles and it is important to know when to apply certain roles in the classroom. There are about 6 qualities that make a good learner. It is important to consider students' experience of the language they are learning, age, and the behaviors, which come with those age groups, that can be a factor their motivation. For instance, children are more likely to want to please their teachers. In contrast, teenagers are more afraid to ask questions because they are afraid of making mistakes in front of their peers. Adults are the Type of learner that are most likely to make the choice to learn a language and offer life experience than any other group of learners. The level of a student's experience in another language (L2 is the term mentioned in the video.) can be from beginner (knowing nothing or have little exposure to the language) to advanced (which is almost fluent and now learning more subtle items of the language.)

This unit gives and overview of the qualities and roles of teachers and learners. The main message is that a good teacher will most likely have good students. A 'good' teacher is patient and caring, he/she is able to motivate the students and correct them without making them feel bad. A 'good' teacher treats his/her students equally and is able to involve all learners in the lesson. There are many roles that a teacher may make use of during a lesson, such as manager, prompter, facilitator, assessor, or observer. All of these roles are more or less equally important and a 'good' teacher should be able to jump from one role into another (or employ several at the same time) when the situation requires it. The kind of role a teacher employs depends mainly on the Type of activity or the focus of stage of the lesson. And last but not least, a 'good' teacher is able to set up activities that are appropriate for the type of learners he/she is teaching, taking into account their age and cultural background, and trying to maintain or build their motivation. A 'good' student is motivated to learn the English language. This can be out of a variety of reasons, such as the plan to travel to or live in an English speaking country, to get better grades in school, or to communicate with business partners. A 'good' student also accepts to be corrected when he/she makes errors, asks questions when unsure, and has a desire to experiment with the language. In this unit the main distinction is made between adult and young learners. Adult learners may be more motivated than young learners, however, adult learners are probably less willing to experiment with language because they may be afraid of losing face. Young learners have less learning experiences than adults and are therefore more open to new teaching methods. Discussions with young learners might only be possible on a simpler level, while adult learners have more life experience that they can include in their discussions. English language learners are not only divided into age groups, but also into six different language levels, ranging from zero knowledge up to a very good knowledge of the language: Beginner, Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, and Advanced.

This unit is about an introduction of how to properly compose sentences and the purpose of each word in the sentence. This unit teaches the basic things that we should learn from the parts of speech. The unit is very informative, because it helped me remember the things that I have learned from the very first day I started studying English. It was able to understand the purpose of each English word that I use every single day. It also helped me remember the proper terms used to identify the words I used. Like using the verb as a noun. I, myself, uses it constantly, but I have forgotten that when you use a verb as a noun it is called a Gerund. It became like an "ahh"" moment when I am studying that part of the unit."

the unit highlights in simply and very direct,the major part of speech in English and i also give details on the major grammatical rule for correct English. i have learnt the more on english gramaical rule and proper usage I have Learnt a great deal from this unit, knowing correct grammar is vital to teaching English. I have learnt how to spot, place and identify Grammar in sentences and more importantly from having to write it out and give examples, have found the way I would teach it to Students. Unit 2 really begins to get into the meat of the content that I will eventually be teaching. Personally, this was a good refresher of the terminology of sentence structure, particularly the terms that are seldom used outside of the classroom. With this lesson, I am beginning to see the true value of this program.

I did not previously know the correct terms for all of the components, but found as a native English speaker I could work them out logically. This would not be true for ESL students and it will be important to refer back to grammatical rules until they become comfortable with the language.

This section was very informative and a refreshing review of basic, English grammar. As stated in the introduction to this unit, I am familiar with forming sentences; it has become a natural habit for a native speaker.
