This Unit has shown me the basic requirements needed to become a good teacher and what constitutes a good language learner. The central aspect is being motivated and being able to motivate others. As a teacher you need to be prepared but flexible, understanding but strict at times. It also introduced the levels of languages that is a good Guide when planning lessons and placing students in the right categories. It highlighted the reasons for students studying English. It points out the strengths of a good teacher. I learned about the roles of a good teacher and the different attributes of a good learner. I learned about the different language levels and the motivations that students will likely have. I am able to understand what students think what a good teacher should be. The lesson brings out these qualities and it will be a motivating factor for me when I am able to teach in a class room setting.

I believe that the greatest aspect of this unit was that of learning the exact classifications of the types of teachers and learners there are. I was unaware of the amount of teacher types there are. Looking back on my own learning experience I can now understand many of my pasts teachers and what style they preferred to use. This unit was about characteristics and roles of teachers and learners. The unit also discusses the different skill levels of language learners and what motivates students to learn. What I learned mainly is that I will need to be conscientious and aware of when and how to switch from different roles depending what I sense from my students. Also, from reading this, it made me think about what kind of teacher I would like to be. An example is that I find it more important to connect with and create a relationship with my students than to be strictly about the subject. However, that does not mean that I don't value the importance of having high amount of knowledge especially because you will need to build credibility with your students.

In this unit, I have learned that there are many different approaches to teaching in the classroom. Most of these methods are either a Type of focus on the teacher or a focus on the students, and the teacher should choose the method to utilize depending on the situation. I have also learned the qualities of both good teachers and students. Teachers should be patient, motivating, knowledgeable, and fair. A good student will want to listen, learn, and question while still being open to criticism. The major difference to me between young adult learners and adult learners is that the older age groups tend to be more affected by prior experiences. This means that they may be more nervous, opinionated, and less open to new ideas. The final thing I learned is that the students' competency with the English language can be divided into several categories based on knowledge of basic sentence structure, vocabulary, and ability to communicate in English.

When teaching a class one needs to know that there are many different hats a teacher must wear. This helps distinguish between a good teacher and a great teacher. If you are successful in being flexible and knowing when to choose specific roles then your quality of teaching will increase. Also when teaching you must be able to distinguish the level of language competency. This allows you as a teacher to be able to assess how your class is progressing. As I have been a teacher for 41 years, much of the information was review. I can say that this unit reminded me some subtle details about teaching. Considering the fact that some required habits become natural after some time being a teacher, it is good to be sure about some actions such as not correcting students at specific moments, and taking into consideration his/her level when correcting one mistake. This unit was a great introduction to teaching. It was very informative and was presented in a way that made the information easy to absorb. All the features that come with the package make it very convenient and useful course to complete. I am very glad i chose this course to take after experiencing this second unit. This section was very informative with all of the different types of speech. While not the most exciting part of the course, it was certainly needed as this area is one of the easiest ways to get yourself confused with, especially if you do not pace yourself through it. Grammar doesn't have to be daunting for teachers and students if they think about if logically, like a puzzle they have to piece together to form a correct sentence. There are always exceptions to the rules, so sometimes it's just a case of memorizing certain rules and word forms.

Unit 2 was a great refresher on parts of speech. I was reminded the reasons we speak the way we do and the rules why. We learned about the different types of nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs,adverbs, pronouns, conjunctions, and prepositions. I have learned all of this in the past, but it has been many years since I have thought about why we speak the way we do. Unit 2 helped recall a lot of forgotten information.
