The School

TEFL/TESOL School in Florence

Our school in Florence is situated in a traditional Italian area where our course students can meet, eat, converse and socialise with Italians who live and work in the immediate vicinity of the school. Therefore, our students gain exposure to the ‘real’ Florence and its people, rather than the Florence that is usually experienced by tourists. Of course, the main tourist centre of Florence is nearby so you will have plenty of opportunity to visit the many sights.

Experience Tuscany

This is one of the main aims for our students on our courses in Florence; we want each of them to have the opportunity to interact with the traditional, unique and authentic Tuscan lifestyle. As many of our students decide to teach English in smaller Italian cities this is ideal preparation not only for teaching English in Italy but also to be able to adapt and feel comfortable wherever they decide to teach.

Our course students come from a wide variety of countries and backgrounds (although the majority are from native English speaking countries). Our teacher trainers are all highly experienced professionals and our Italian support team is also extremely helpful and happy to give you all the assistance that you need to ensure that your time in Florence is as varied and enjoyable as possible.

Complete our application form and look forward to teaching and learning amidst the beauty and excitement of Florence and Tuscany.

Accommodation

We are pleased to have various accommodation options available to you for the duration of your course in Florence. However, due to the popularity of Florence as a tourist location, a number of our accommodation options have limited availability, particularly during the busy summer months. We therefore advise you to book as early as possible, especially if you have any particular accommodation requests.

Private Accommodation in Florence

This option consists of a private room in an apartment in Florence. You can choose from a number of rooms which are situated in various areas of the city. You may also (dependent on availability and your requirements) be placed with other students.

Italian students from the Università degli Studi rent some of our apartments and are more than happy to share their apartment with TEFL/TESOL course students. All students are, of course, given their own private room, however, with a shared apartment you have the perfect opportunity to befriend a genuine Florentine student and pick up some Italian from a native speaker.

Shared Accommodation in Florence

This option consists of a shared room in Florence, although there is limited availability so please book early to avoid disappointment. If you are planning to study your course in Florence with a partner or friend then this will be your preferred accommodation option. This option provides a single bed (or double if planning to stay with a partner) in a shared room located in the city.

All the apartments with shared rooms are comfortably, fully furnished and well situated around the city. This option can be useful for getting to know other TEFL/TESOL students in the area. As this option is on a shared basis, ITTT students will find that they always have someone on hand to discuss studying and teaching methods, or just simply for company.

Home Stay Accommodation in Florence

A large number of our students like the idea of experiencing life with an Italian host family. This option really appeals to those who want the full experience of the Italian lifestyle.

Although your day will usually be busy with teaching and studying, in the evenings you will have the chance to eat authentic Italian meals with your host family. It would be beneficial to you if you have some basic knowledge of the Italian language and want to practice and develop this skill further. You need to be aware that overnight visitors are not allowed with the home stay accommodation option.

Pensione Accommodation in Florence

Should you wish to have a more independent and comfortable stay without daily chores like making your bed or having to eat out at cafes or restaurants, then the Pensione Feretti, located in the heart of historical Florence, is perhaps the accommodation choice for you. The owners are a married couple, Roberto and Sandra, who happily invite you to stay at their pensione for the duration of your course. This accommodation option provides free internet access and a telephone is available in each room. You need to be aware that overnight visitors are not allowed without prior agreement.
