I lerned a different perspective of student-centered and teacher-centered teaching methods. My university forcused on student-centered learning but I agree with this lesson that there needs to be a balance between the two. I find in my classes my students are continuously asking me to repeat words for pronunciation purposes. In this Unit I have learnt the characteristic i would need to have to become a good teacher. I learnt although knowledge is important the love for sharing that knowledge is equally important. I learnt about the difference in teaching a certain age groups and also the different levels. This unit was clear and precise. Unit one gives myself, the student an in depth understanding of the classroom relative to the different roles he/she should play as a teacher. It allows you to understand the different stages in learning one as a teacher will confront, as well as levels of motivation, different class environments, and how to adjust to each.

I think the overall number of different ways to teach a class is useful here. Understanding that teaching is not done in one way all the time. There are times when we it's appropriate to manage the class but then there's times to take on the other roles (prompter/assessor/tutor etc). Also keeping in mind your student's age and cultural background as well as their level is a key learning point. Being understanding of your role and to realize that everyone in class (teacher vs students) has a different point of view, and what to expect. Being sensitive is a very important aspect of the teaching role. Lastly, just understanding the English learning stages is useful in recognizing those varied level students in your class. Helps to differentiate your teaching.

This unit demonstrates effective characteristics of both teacher and student. It gives examples of why students may not be motivated or lose motivation during lessons and why the teacher may be the contributing factor. Clearly, the teachers approach to the students is of the utmost importance, though, effective teaching would mean that the teacher would need to change or adapt their approach in class depending on how students are preforming and responding to the teachers style. I have learnt that being "dynamic"" in teaching style would be advantageous and even beneficial to the outcome of classes for the students."

Unit 2 deals with basic grammar. It introduces the fundamental components of a sentence, such as nouns, verbs, and prepositions. While I was familiar with the terminology of the more basic parts of a sentence, this lesson taught me about terms like gerunds and infinitives. This unit enhanced my understanding of English grammar. I think the lesson was very comprehensive and informative.

This unit talks about various parts of speech, and introduces the fundamental English grammar. It describes eight different parts of speech, and they are noun, adjective, article, verb, adverb, gerund, pronoun, and prepositions/conjunctions. I have learned that it is the best way to teach the subject using many examples. And also for learners, it would be easier to grasp by writing many sentences and categorizing different parts of speech. i really enjoyed this unit.

This unit deals with some basic grammar points. There are different parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, articles, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions. To teach students a teacher should know how to explain the usage of any grammar form or construction. To my mind, the most challenging task for students is to understand and memorise the rules and exeptions about articles and prepositions. Also irregular verbs may cause some difficulties too.

I think that this unit is quite useful as it demonstrates every single part of the speech,this is really useful for me as a teacher because it gives me the chance to be fully aware of the parts of speech in a detailed way; all parts of speech,the Name of these parts,their usage and their exceptions.Also knowing the content of this unit makes me ready to answer any question asked by a student,as some students prefer to know the reason for each part of the speech,here comes the importance of this unit as it allows the teacher to answer fluently.

Obviously the main point taken away from this unit was both the difficulty and complexity of the rules governing grammar. However, like many of the more tedious and unpopular tasks that we are faced with in life, there is no way to avoid grammatical rules. It is of major importance to both the teacher, (as a means of being clear and concise when delivering a specific language lesson), and the student, (in order to better comprehend and practice the content of this same lesson). As an example, the were a few times in this unit, where it was mentioned that the best way to remember a rule (the order of multiple adjectives used to describe a single noun), was to simply go with what "feels right"". The understanding of grammar and its guidelines are intuitive to a point thus reinforcing the importance of rote practice for persons learning English as their second language."

This chapter gave a brief overview of the main parts of speech. Some parts of speech appear to be not that difficult to understand. Others, like uncountable and countable nouns, could be difficult for learns to comprehend....because there are many nouns that must be memorized as to which "class"" they are in (countable or uncountable). Worse There are many parts of speech that can be identified in the English language. Understanding which words are which part of speech can help one to understand how to create native-like sentences. Knowing the parts of speech can also help with comprehension as knowing which parts of speech work together can clarify which words have relationships. Since I have been out of school for a few years lol. I had to really go back to basics on this section. I hope that I can remember all of this section daily review will be needed for this.
