There are certain similarities in usage and form emerging between the past tenses and the present tenses. Also there is certain pattern of changing from base form to past simple form but many common verbs in English have an irregular simple past form and there are no rules to help students know which are irregular. we therefore need to give students some list of the irragular form so they can memorize some of the basic verbs. This unit gave me clear idea of how to explain the past tenses using what kind of example sentences.
