This unit went over the different time of exams and tests that can be used to determine a student's skill, fluency level, and their motivation for learning the language which are known as placement and diagnostic tests. Additionally, progress and practice tests also serve to help the teacher keep tabs on the students and how much they are learning and retaining throughout their lessons. Finally, the course talked about exams outside the school that students can aim for taking in order to better achieve a greater understanding of English.This unit provides an insight to the varied approaches of teaching English language to different groups of students with differing ages, background, current ability (in English), class size, learning objectives and motivation. It can be rightly assumed that no class will ever be made up with a perfect combination of students to enable the teacher to carry out a seamless lesson, but this unit provides guidance and information on how best to prepare and carry out their objectives and also guard against the many pitfalls that may lie ahead.
