The main types of nouns are common, proper, compound, abstract, and collective. Nouns can be countable, uncountable, or both. Adjectives describe nouns and are often in the order of size, then age, and then color. Comparatives or superlatives are used for comparisons. Articles indicated specificity or uniqueness. \"A\" and \"an\" can refer to any member of a group, while \"the\" is used when the noun is specific. Verb are transitive or intransitive. The former are followed by a direct object, while the latter are not and can stand alone. Verb forms include present, past simple, past participle, or present participle. Auxiliary verbs help form the tense or expression. There are three auxiliary verbs: do, have, and be. Adverbs describe the quality or state denoted by the verb. The main types are manner, place, time, degree, and frequency. Other types include comment, linking, viewpoint, and adding/limiting. They are placed after the object of transitive verbs, immediately after intransitive verbs, or between the subject and the verb if it's a frequency adverb. If there are multiple adverbs, the order is generally place, manner, and then time. Gerunds are creating by adding -ing to the base form of a verb and can be used as subject or object. Pronouns are either personal, possessive, reflexive, or relative. Prepositions show the relationship between the noun/pronoun and some other word. Conjunctions join words of the same class or join clauses.
