Unit 17 talked about teaching equipment and teaching aids. And depends what school we are cooperating with or what school we are teaching at. Different schools have different resources different items they use different styles etc. However when we can find usually adult stuff schools are white or black boards, interactive whiteboards, visual aids, projectors, worksheets and workouts, cd players, video cameras, DVDs, televisions, dictionaries, course books, copy machines, call me users and online resources Every classroom should have it's own board. It is important if we want to maybe write some information on it for our students or some plans. They can be used for many many things such as writing, drawing, the game things on etc. Many teachers nowadays prefer white boards over the traditional blackboards because they are usually cleaner. There are some basic principles that we should follow when using a board. We should always start with a clean board, use the correct tools for writing, keep the board clear and easy to read for the students, use different colors so we will make it more fun for the students, we could also use some mind maps to emphasize what we are teaching. We should not forget to erase what is needed, avoid unnecessary capitalization, clean the board of the end of the lesson... Interactive whiteboards are usually in private classrooms, they can get really expensive . There are many different types of smart boards, they can be either touch sensitive or have wireless inlaid. They require their own software and have to be connected to some form of computer or laptop. Overhead projectors are useful for showing preprepared overhead transparencies. There are advantages are that they get students' attention, they can be used for timed reading, gap-fill exercise etc., they are perfect tool for feedback after exercises etc. There are are also some disadvantages such us that the classroom needs to have a size that allows effective projection. Visual aids are usually real objects and pictures or photos. Many teachers use them because they are not expensive, they can evolve a discussion. They attract attention and help with the memory process, they can be used for teaching new vocab items and for drills etc. If we want to have our officials the factor, it is important to make sure that they're big enough so everybody can see them. Worksheets and the work cards can be either bought from the publisher, or made by the teacher. Most of the time we use them to write our own exercises with our own material are for making cards for role-play, we can use them for reading exercises etc. Then we have got cassette recorder, cd players, videos and DVDs, video cameras. Students usually find this teaching techniques motivating since it's something else than just reading. You always have to make sure that everything is working properly before the lesson. We can use these tools for discussions, communicative activities, with video camera they can record their own news broadcast, play etc. When using Videos we should make sure to not use inefficiently but connect itwith some sort of activity where they have to analyze language or write a summary what was the video about. Dictionaries are very useful tools available to students, a good to dictionaries always consist meaning of the word pronunciation, usage. They also help students to produce the language.
