This unit covered the methodologies of teaching a language and the various techniques and activities that can be applied in the classroom to support each methodology. The unit also covered the importance of correcting student errors in the best way and in the best stage of the lesson. Using the ESA method (Engage, Study, Activate) keeps students interested in the lesson and gives them a great deal of \"student talk time\" while minimizing \"teacher talk time\". This method has been shown to be very successful. The Engage Stage of the lesson is a kind of warm up, allowing students to start the class speaking in the new language and utilizing previously learned vocabulary and language points. The Study Stage presents the new language point to be learned in that day's lesson and is focused on achieving correct usage and pronunciation. The Activate Stage is when students get to take the new language point they've just been taught and experiment with it by speaking with other class members. Fluency is more important in this stage than accuracy as it is important for the student to use the language freely at this stage.
