There are some ways to assess a student's language level such as tutorials, evaluation by the students and tests. Tutorials can be used with the whole group or individually; evaluation by the students is also can be useful. Speaking about tests, there are a number of types: placement test to determine the level of language and knowledge; progress test to check knowledge periodically; diagnostic test is basically similar to placement test but is sometimes more extensive; practice test which should follow the structure of the external examination. TOEFL, IELTS and TOEIC are the names of general external examinations. There are also some of Cambridge assessment such as KET, PET, CAE, BEC etc.
