This lesson discussed ways to use different course materials such as teacher created materials like a fill-in-the-gap activity, or authentic materials like a newspaper, and provided ways that the teacher can use these. The lesson states that it is important to know how to use a course book (if chosen to do so) and be able to apply it appropriately to the lesson, which includes omitting lessons when necessary, creating supplemental tasks for the course book, or replacing a lesson altogether.
