These videos go to show just how confounding it can be for students to deal with a teacher who doesn't thoroughly check that his students understanding. Making students think material is 'easy' can certainly motivate them, but only if it is done in an encouraging instead of threatening manner. On the other hand, when clear explanations are given slowly and with encouragement (and, most importantly, examples) then students will be happy to participate and feel respected enough to ask questions for clarification. Connecting examples of the language to examples of things students already know is imperative as well, so the language can create a chain of understanding.
