Phonetics has always been one of the most difficult things for me to teach. I?ve always felt that proper pronunciation is essential in language learning; if your grammar is perfect but nobody can understand what you are saying then it is all meaningless. However, it has been difficult to teach proper pronunciation for me in my experiences. I have primarily taught English in Japan, and Japanese is a language with very few sounds so Japanese learners of English often struggle to produce proper sounds. I believe that some of the suggested lesson ideas for pronunciation will be very helpful for me and am looking forward to trying a lesson with tongue twisters.
