In this unit I learned about the different parts of speech in the English language, including nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions. While the different parts of speech are quite logical in how they are used, my studying has made me more aware that one of the greatest challenges with mastering them is the fact that there are many exceptions for commonly used words, especially among verbs. Additionally, there is a significant amount of memorization required to gain mastery over the different parts of speech, and in the case of pronouns, the many varied, unique forms are often confused with possessive adjectives.
