This unit has taught me the following 1) What are authentic materials 2) what are created materials 3) what course books comprise of 4) the advantages and disadvantages of using the coursebook 5) 4 options for course book. Personally, I creating material using authentic materials in order to pique the interest of my students. I have been inspired to do more material to supplement their learning. Indeed course book can be very boring at times thus a good teacher should always adapt the material to suit the needs of the learners. In the course of my teaching career, I have learnt to omit information as the text book might contain too much unnecessary content at times.
