The information presented in unit 11, ?Teaching Receptive Skills? covers the basic skills that are present in any language. In teaching the students we will want to focus on incorporating these skills with a balanced approach in order to better cultivate the skills of our students for language proficiency. The receptive skills of reading and listening are the focus of this unit. One point made in the unit that I believe is a great and under utilized point to get across to the students is to keep them aware reasons for their needed receptivity to the information provided, keeping in mind that the degree of stressing this fact will depend on the age and level of the student. The unit gives a great example of using the patchwork method to keep the students interested and the course work flowing.
