I definitely agree with the course material stating that TOEIC exams aren't good measures of English-speaking abilities. However, the countries that utilize those tests the most are very stubborn in nature in regards to outsider opinion on the matter. How would (or would you at all) suggest that we, as educators, inform our students of how the TOEIC exams are faulty/unreliable and shouldn't be taken too seriously or used at all as an assessment of their language skills? Taking an exam that's so difficult and getting a poor score can easily discourage students at every level; a poorly formatted test shouldn't be what stops them from achieving a feeling of accomplishment and courage in their abilities. Also, are there any particular diagnostic tests available to teachers that ITTT especially recommends?
