Teach English in Waxi XiAng - Tongren Shi

In this unit, I watched two videos that showed me a great contrast to classroom teaching. Although ESA was used in both teaching demo, it is obvious that the first video was a poor example. As I am a teacher, I believe I won't do all the wrong ways in the first video; on the other hand, I sometimes meet a situation that the students were easy to get bored in the middle of the lesson. I wonder I should improve something in the engage stage. Thinking of some engaging and productive activities or games to arouse the student interests. Another problem I have ever met was students might not fully understand the concept by the end of the lesson. Should I still use the strict arrow ESA format? Or cut the study stages pieces by pieces, make sure they absorb the concepts before doing other tasks in activate stage.
