The most interesting part of this unit to me was the reported speech section, since I had never thought about reported speech as a grammar structure that students need to study. After reading about reported speech in this unit, I can understand why it could be an issue for foreigners studying English since there are a few complex rules to reporting speech correctly. There are two ways of reporting speech, one in the present tense, if the speaker has just spoken the words that need to be reported, and the other is in the past tense, if the event to be reported has already completed. When using the past tense, the words that reported need to be changed into the correct tense too, which is rather complicated. I will certainly be sure to mention this grammatical structure to my students and have them practice it.
