Unit 14 covered the two types of course materials, authentic and created. There is a purpose for each type, depending on the level of knowledge of the class, the need for additional materials based on if and what kind of course book the teacher is using, the interests of the class members, and even the creativity of the teacher. When I was an instructional designer and designed, development and created materials for corporate training audiences, I followed a similar structure as was outlined in this unit; i.e. teacher's book, a participant guide (or workbook), supplemental learner materials including worksheets, activities and videos, tests, quizzes and assessments, and evaluation. A good teacher will take created materials, and omit, replace, or add additional materials based on the needs of the specific class.
