In this unit, we covered important grammar skills. Such skills included modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice. Modal auxiliary verbs are verbs used with other verbs to express the certain tense and mood of a situation. For example, \"could\" can be used as a modal that either describes somebody's ability, or expresses the level of certainty. Phrasal verbs are a verb with an adverb (or some other element) that is joined together to create a phrase that when put together describes just one verb. For example, \"look down on\" is three words but one action. Passive voice is a certain way of arranging a sentence so the focus of the sentence is put more on the action than the doer of the action. For example, \"The wall was painted.\" The active voice of that phrase would be, \"Jerry painted the wall.\" This identifies the doer of the action when put in active voice.
