Course review and analysisI would like to start off by saying thank you. Before I started this course I thought it would be this simple course that would basically teach me how to teach, after all I already speak english what else could there possibly be to learn? Well, let me tell you there was a lot to learn. If only I how much there actually is to learning english. I knew about the past, present and futures tenses, but I didn?t know that there were types of past, present and future tenses. I didn?t think about materials and things I would use to teach, nor did I know about some topics through out the course. I never knew what those symbols in a dictionary meant, or that it helps a person to make sounds to know how a word is pronounced, and I didn?t know about different techniques, methods and theories of teaching. I didn?t know how to create a lesson plan, or that teachers even use them. I never thought about receptive and productive skills, nor did I think about conditionals or reported speech. Thinking about what I thought about this course before I started it, I don?t know what I was thinking about at all. Maybe I was in a fairyland, thinking that because I know how to speak english that teaching it would be simple. After completing this course my view on the english language has changed. It?s no longer a simple language to speak. I feel for those people trying to learn it, with all of the words that are not spelt the way it sounds, and verbs, adjectives etc., that are irregular. Know I have a slight understanding about how they must feel when learning to speak, write, read and understand something that is so foreign. That?s why I think all students in english speaking countries should learn english in this same way. As I was completing particular tasks I thought, I didn?t learn any of this stuff at school. It is great that this course helps native speakers to learn to use the language properly, and that it then teaches students of other nationalities to speak and use the language correctly. I found the course to have just the right amount of units, with great information on all topics including all tenses, types of lesson plans, tips and ideas for lessons, techniques, managing classes, different skills to teach students such as pronunciation, phonetics, receptive and productive skills. The course supplies great ideas for resources, where to find extra materials and books available to find activities or ideas for lessons. For me it was great to create lesson plans, and have the feedback I did to inform me where I needed to improve and what was thought to be a great lesson plan. Every time I created a lesson plan I would pray that I had done it all right. Sometimes I didn?t and I think it?s great that I could correct it and make it better. Finally, I?d like to say thanks again. This course was a challenge, and helped to open my eyes in a few different ways. I have learnt a lot and am now going to try my best to put it all into practice.
