Motivation in classMotivation is an essential at all the phases of life may it be childhood, young hood or an adult. Motivation is that external and internal force that directs an individual?s positive action towards achieving the targets. The immediate effect can be seen in one?s behavior which results in improved performance. Motivation can be considered as an art of encouraging people or oneself to work. It can be used in all the criteria of life. While working with students, a closed class with boring subject matter leads to the ineffectiveness of the lesson delivered and hence students? progress becomes stagnant. Therefore, Motivation becomes a very crucial tool in inspiring the young minds to put all their attention and respond with outstanding results. As a teacher, one should be well aware with the types of students and enrich environment. Some of the following tasks will help in inculcating such environment; The Star Student is a chart showing achievement attained by different students. In order to keep students well versed with the previous topics explained, the teacher can prepare worksheets/drills which will be provided to the students who are willing to gain rewards and good name. Readathon: Every class should have a small reading corner, which will have books brought by students depending on their interest .the section will also have a chart with a picture of the reward. This will motivate students to read and enhance their vocabulary at the same time. Helper of the Day: providing students with the social need task, it operates as a vital source of motivation. It is an integral task in influencing students in raising belongingness towards the fellow students. In recent decade many researchers have worked on many ways in succeeding the students? outcome. Thus, the vitality of motivation has influenced the dedicated teachers to come up with different ideas which will auxiliary in attaining the positive outcome. Once you see a child?s self-image begin to improve, you will see significant gains in achievement areas, but more important, you will see a child who is beginning to enjoy life more. (Wayne Dyer) I believe teachers are the most important people who actually make up the students? confidence level. It is to be understood by the teacher that in order to motivate student, the teacher must build in self belief, learning focus and value for school. When all these three are incorporated then the ability of a child to deliver outstanding results emerges out. Students who do not think positively become apprehensive and often turn positive into negative. Students need to take credit of the positive things that happen in their lives. And in order to pull them out from the state of procrastination, the teacher must provide them all with an environment which is motivational. There are many activities which teachers can use to enhance motivation and motivational strengths. These include developing skills, solving problems and learning new things. Although marks and grades are a very important part of students? achievements, there are usually other achievements on the way to getting those marks or grades.
