Lesson Planning Delivering information to a student is not an easy task; teachers must use a simple and clear way to reach their goal. What if the teacher is not an organized person?! That will lead to; the flow of information won?t be well organized and will distract the student and that will make it harder for both the student to receive the information and the teacher to deliver the message. The perfect solution for that is the lesson planning, something that will make it easier for the teacher and the student and will guarantee a perfectly covered lesson. The lesson plan should contain; topic or the context, the tools the teacher will use during the lesson, the teacher?s objective and personal aims and also problems she might face and finally the procedures and phases of the lesson, and those things will be covered in the coming lines. The teacher should put the topic in front of her eyes all the time as that will make her set the goal of the lesson and also put the plan for that topic. Those couple of words or maybe the one word which is the topic, depend on it a whole lesson plan with all its divisions whether grammar, vocabulary, writing, speaking or even listening. So the topic is the first thing to be written down and it?s really important. After mentioning the topic, the teacher should think how she is going to deliver that information to the students, what tools she is going to use. Extensive use of verbal language will make the class boring, so the teacher must think of other tools to be used to make that class interesting, those tools differ according to the age of the students, if they are children so pictures of cartoons and other games will be interesting, if they are teenagers so challenging games and other pictures will be fun and if they are adults so you can use videos, pictures and for sure challenging games. Worksheets are used for all ages and also the board and marker are irreplaceable. Other things can be used also as computers, projectors, board games, dictionaries and others, but this should mentioned in the lesson plan and also prepared and that will help the teacher to make everything ready instead of wasting the time during the class for thinking and preparing. All these tools are going to be used according to the teacher?s plans for achieving her goal. So the teacher should mention in her lesson plan her objective so that she knows what specifically she wants the students to know and understand well instead of giving too much information or getting off track. The teacher should also mention her personal aim, something that she wants to do in the classroom as for example she found out that she talks more than the students do so her personal aim would be; increasing the students? speaking time. There are lots of other personal aims that the teachers might have but they must put in consideration. Sometimes teachers are put in bad situations and can?t get out of it, and other times they run out of ideas, so it would be perfect if the teacher writes down the problems she might face and solutions for it. For example, if the class turns to be boring, a solution is that the teacher prepares extra interesting activities or games to get over that boredom. The teacher can also think of problems that the students might face during the class, for example; problems with pronunciation the solution will be, drilling or may be problems with sentence structure so she must prepare extra activities. All that makes the teacher well prepared and have self confidence and also not wasting the time of the class. Finally the procedures that should be taken during the lesson, which makes the teacher aware of the time and the material covered in a specific duration. So for example, the teacher should divide the class into 3 main phases; engage, study and activate, and she must prepare the appropriate activities and material needed for each phase and put a timing for that in order not to run out of time or ideas. That will help the teacher to follow the instructions written be her in the lesson plan and make use of every single minute in the class and show the students that is well prepared and aware of everything and that will make them respect her more. Lesson planning is an essential thing that makes you keep record of everything you did and refer back to it if needed, it also makes the lesson easier and the flow of information also easier. That will help the students to concentrate more and not to get distracted. Lesson planning takes time in preparing it but it is really beneficial on the long run.
