This unit was focused on how to teach the receptive skills reading and listening. The content included a number of explanatory portions to help us better understand how language is understood and perceived from the vantage point of a new learner, as well as how to generate interest in the topic among a variety of learners, some of whom will not always start out with an enthusiastic attitude towards learning the new material. This unit's material helped me to better assess how I go about selecting material for a receptive skills focused lesson. It also helped me to have better ideas about how to involve the students and generate interest in the material being taught.
