This particular unit put into perspective the ways in which I would approach teaching the English language to new learners. In particular, what the focus should be on when selecting what and how to teach particular vocabulary words. I also think that the juxtaposition of boomerang, patchwork, and straightarrow approaches offers necessary insight into the students and how I will be able to provide differentiated instruction so that all students can receive the equal opportunity to learn. To sum up the unit, we are provided with information that is essential to providing a foundation for students in order for them to achieve success when beginning to learn a new language.
