This unit firstly reviewed some of the cultural considerations needed when looking for an overseas teaching post, with some general guidelines on what would and would not be considered acceptable. Advice on preparing a resume and a job application covering letter was given, along with some tips on job seeking in a foreign country and some useful questions to ask at an interview. The unit concluded with advising on a selection of professional EFL associations and provided a list of useful web sites. For me, as a Westerner working in Asia, the cyborlink.com website on international etiquette and its links to Hofstede's cultural dimensions was particularly useful and relevant.
