The different resources available and how to make the best use of them to make the lessons more interesting and effective. Off course not all resources are available in all classrooms and centres so it is a good idea to be prepared with some material of your own. Board is again discussed and the following suggestion to utilise it to its maximum effect:- - Planning the board on a paper before the lesson I believe allows greater control of the teaching time. - Obviously to start with a clean board - To write clearly and neatly with appropriate size text - Use the correct tool - Make sure the board is clear and easy to read, not too cluttered - try not to put unnecessary information on it - Section the board and use different colours - Erase what is not being used or relevant - Involve the class in the board work process to keep them interested. The use of OHP can be helpful with teacher starting out as you can use pre prepared transparencies, this also avoids having your back to the students and can be re used for other classes. The use of visual aid such as photos, pictures and objects, effective in reducing TTT, and to stimulate discussion, prompt and elicit language. Worksheets and cards that can be purchased or made to make them more specific to the students you are teaching, they can be used for role play, also for reading and grammar excercises. Cassette recorders, CD players, Videos & DVDs, video cameras, photocopiers, computers these plus all the resource and course books are available for the planning and teaching of students.
