This unit mainly focuses on introducing the ESA, apart from various other methodology in teacher. Across the three stages, there are different activities can be carried out in order to achieve the distinct goal of each stage. For example, in the phrase of 'engage', warm-up games such as word linking or consequences can be used. Where as in next stage of 'study' which mainly focuses on the topic taught, worksheets and spelling activities (e.g hangman) can be used to facilitate learning. And the stage of 'activate', students can practice through both verbal and written means (such as survey, presentation and essay-writing) with the vital part of teacher's follow-up action in correcting mistakes and errors. From this unit, it helps me to design my lesson plan in a more organized and effective way. Again, it reminds me that different tactics should be used after evaluating the level of class. For example, a straight-arrow ESA should be used for teaching lower level, activities for elicitation purpose in 'study' phrase should be easier- such as using flashcard or actual objects rather than asking learners to complete gap-filling. Also, I am reminded that as an educator, I have to be encouraging all the time, I should always pay attention to the way I correct learners' mistakes and errors. Rather than simply saying the answer is wrong, I might say 'you're close' or I can invite another peer from the class to suggest a possible answer to the question as nervousness and anxiety caused by teachers' disapproval might jeopardize one's learning experience.
