The first section covered the roles of a teacher, such as monitoring the class, facilitating activities, instructing the whole class, instructing a more personal level, and becoming a participant. Next positive qualities of good teachers and good students were outlined. Good teacher motivate students, have a good knowledge of the subject, and are fair. Good teacher provide guidance and encouragement when needed, but don't help to the point where the student isn't thinking on their own ever. Good student are motivated, curious, focused, not afraid of taking risks, enthusiastic about participating, and able to learn gracefully from mistakes. The final section focused on diving learners by age: child learners 3-7, young learners 8-12, teenagers 13-18, and adult learners. Their motivation and behavioral difference were compared. Adults are highly motivated for their own reasons while most young learners are forced to be there and draw motivation from the classroom mostly. As far as behavior, very young learners are keen to learn and playful. Young learners are harder to engage. Teenager are conscious about themselves and mistakes. Adults are mature and engaged, but might have set expectations from previous educational experiences. We then sub-divided the learners based on language ability ranging from beginner to advanced with varying stages of intermediacy based on the amount of topics able to be discussed and the amount of mistakes made. The scale outlined is almost analogous to the CEFR system's A1-C2 rating (I've been familiar with this system for years).
