The tense system is an area that causes great difficulty for the students. They often get confused wit the different tense forms, how , why and when it should be used. Teaching the tense system can be challenging for the teachers. But if the students are clear about each tense forms, and if they practice it more the learning can become an easy task. we can use different methods like, showing pictures, playing charades, carry out actions and make the students say what we are doing, etc to simplify the learning process. In this unit the main focus is on Present Simple, Present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous tenses. The examples for the affirmative, negative and the question form of each tense helps to understand the unit clearly. We use the Present Simple tense; 1. for the things that happen again and again ex: She waters the plants daily. 2. For general truths. ex: The earth moves round the sun. 3. for things that stay the same for long time. ex: They live in Delhi. We use the Present Continuous tense to talk about things which are happening now or for things that people have planned or arranged to do in the future. Present perfect tense relates the past to the present. We use Present Perfect tense for actions in the past when we wre not thinking or talking the exact time that they happened. We use \"subject + have/have not+ past participle. The present perfect continuous tense is used to talk about the actions which began at some time in the past and are still going on. Example: The child have been playing since 4.30pm.
