The productive skills found in the classroom are speaking and writing. With speaking activities, there is a time appropriate for more attention focused on accuracy and a time for practicing fluency. Accuracy activities are usually carried out during the study phase through the use of drills. These lessons are controlled by the teacher, as he/she is listening for correct pronunciation of the word or phrase. Fluency activities are produced during the activate stage and allow students to be more creative with the language. Here, the students are practicing the flow of the language in a freer environment. Fluency activities include role-play, discussions or debates, or communication games. The teacher creates the scenario for the students to develop their language use and does not control the activity as he/she would with an accuracy lesson. Getting students talking can be achieved though pair or group work and careful planning of the goals of the activity by the teacher. Providing necessary feedback is important and the teacher needs to be aware of the appropriate timing to give corrections. It should be done after the activity is completed and there should be a focus on encouraging the things that the students did well. Students will have a wide variety of experience with spelling and writing the English language. Some will require that the teacher spends more time helping with spelling and punctuation errors as well as handwriting and becoming familiar with the English alphabet.
