For a successful lesson, the teacher needs to make sure they start the lesson in a correct manner. This is done by using the proper attitude while first entering the class or greeting the students properly as they enter. Being confident, enthusiastic and smiling are key. Learning the students names helps build rapport as it gives them the feeling of interest from the teacher, hence giving them a reason to want to participate in the lesson. The engage phase of lesson should allow the students to think and if possible allow them to give responses, i.e. eliciting vocabulary, grammar points, etc. from the students. This done by using techniques such as telling them short stories, letting them watch videos, miming certain actions, and so on, allowing the students speak whenever possible. The study phase should allow the students to be given an opportunity to understand the material being given to them usually by allowing the teacher to give short and simple explanations and giving the students materials, such as worksheets, to help them grasp the concepts given to them. This all still allowing the students to be able to communicate and/or discuss freely if necessary. And the activate phase should allow the student to be able to use the knowledge they have gained in the form of communication, role playing, debates, etc. Allowing the students to freely speak is of utmost importance during this phase as it shows the teacher if the students have learnt from the given lesson and where the students need to improve, if needed. Overall, the teacher needs as enthusiastic as possible and allow student-talk time as much as possible.
