Unit 14 Course Books and Materials We learnt in this unit the focuse on the use of course materials and teaching aids: Wipe board Visual aids i.e.realobject (realia)seeing something Worksheets and workcards i.e. can be bought or made Cassette,CD/Flash/DVD/video i.e. How does work ?How long it takes? Dictionary I.e Monoligual or bilingual Course Books i.e resource book .i.e use the three book series We also learnt Resource Books Advantage and Disadvantage . Advantages are : -Quicker than creating you won -Granded for level -Offers continutiy -Stundents expect to use them -Good for new teachers Disadvantages are: -Should not use for whole class -Do they cover the needs /interest of the class -Tent to be a compromise -Book dictates the teaching -You and the students may not like the book we also learnt how to make the best use of our course book by create a balanced lesseon and not to use all the times which we don not rely on the information persented in the book ,So we give the students what they needs. The 4 approches to the course book use: 1-Omit:We leave out selected parts of the materials presents in the book. 2-Replace 3-Suppement 4-Adopt: Own style based on th information given in the book rahter than course pot matrials. We learnt the Matrials Authentic and Created: Authentic are: -New papers -Songs -Menus -Magazines -Brochures Created -Flash Card -Cross Words -Pictures sroties -Games -Role play Authentic materials are actul materials that are created for any reason. For this unit i had to wake up so early cos i really enjoyed by searching the answer and its really useful information in it which i can use for my teaching career. -
