Teach English in Songnan Zhen - Shanghai Shi

I have gained so much from this course! Not only do I have a better understanding of english grammar, but also a heightened curiosity and desire to expand on what this course has introduced. I have always generally been quite shy and, at times, withdrawn in groups. Looking back, I remember that public speaking tasks, subject debates and orals were a daunting experience for me at school. This is probably why I felt, and at times still feel, more confident and clear minded when expressing views through written communication rather than verbal communicative assessment/tasks or responses. My anxiety and lack of confidence in crowds had a negative effect on my learning experience and motivation at school. This course has given me the tools and encouragement to approach EFL teaching with confidence and creativity. I now realise the responsibility and important role of the teacher to facilitate learning, not just to ?teach? what is required. -I plan to use what I have learnt, along with my experiences and creativity, to encourage a positive learning experience for each student. I aim to create a supportive and sensitive classroom atmosphere, to reduce anxiety and promote student interaction and confidence, as well as tailor my lessons for my students? interests and needs. Although I haven?t quite realised my TEFL direction or destination yet, I?m excited about the new experiences and cultural exchange opportunities that lie ahead! My father lives in Seychelles which presents a convenient potential starting point for my TEFL journey. I am especially interested in teaching young learners as I have always loved it and have plenty work and volunteer experience with children. My next step will be to get my CTEYL.
