The first video was a nightmare for any aspiring teacher to watch, however it is also the reality of introducing a new completely different language to a group of adult students. Classroom engagement thru non verbal cues as well as gestures are so important as is exemplified in the second video. Additionally, it is important to convey that you care about the students, in the second video the teacher introduced himself, and broke the ice by going through the class and naming all of the students. In the first video, the teacher felt strained and his students looked miserable! I would have taken more time to make the students feel at ease.
