This unit teaches about the Conditionals and the Reported Speech. The Conditionals are sentences about possibilities in the present, past, and future that contain an \"if\" clause and a main clause. The \"if\" clause is a condition that needs to be met, and the main clause is the result of the condition met. There are five Conditionals. The Zero Conditional is formed with \"if/when\" plus present simple and present simple, and it is used to talk about facts and general truths that cannot be proved wrong. The First Conditional has \"if\" plus present simple and will plus base verb, and it refers to possible real situations in the future. The Second Conditional takes \"if\" plus past simple and may/might/could plus base verb; this is very similar to the first conditional, but it is used in UNREAL situations in the present or the future. The Third Conditional contains \"if\" plus past perfect and might/would/could plus \"have\" and past participle, and it is used to express an imaginary situation in the past and a speculative past consequence. Finally, the Mixed Conditional uses the third and second conditionals to express an imaginary past situation and a present result. The other subject taught in this unit was the Reported Speech, which is a way to express what people has said without using the exact words they used. When reporting speech, there are some important changes that need to be made: tenses, pronouns, time, imperative statements, and questions. There are some exceptions that do not require those changes, but it is not wrong to make the changes in those cases; therefore, we can teach students to make those changes when reporting speech while they become familiar with the exceptions.
