In this lesson I learned about different kinds of teaching themes. I learned about case studies, flameworking, problem based learning, how games can be used, how to use computers to aid my teaching in the classroom, and saw some sample lessons with the required materials. IN case studies, the teacher should always introduce the background of a topic and then pre-teach the language or vocabulary that may cause the students issues. There are three different steps involved in frame working. These steps are: Input, process, and output. Input refers to the starting conditions of a lesson, process is what happens within the intermediate step, and output is exactly what it sounds like. It has to do with what the students end up with. Problem-based learning is also exactly what it sounds like. A problem is introduced to the students and then they have to find the solution in English. Games are used to keep students interested, allow them to have fun, and help teach them as that all happens. Computers are helpful resources for students who want to look at templates of business letters and have access to authentic materials. The speech act theory has four parts. Utterance, propositional utterances, illocutionary utterances, and perlocutionary utterances. Utterances are reactionary things that people say to themselves like ?Ouch? or ?Oh no?. Propositional utterances don?t require or expect replies. This can include phrases and commands like ?Look at that?, etc. Illocutionary utterances are things that can be both a question or a statement based off of the tone of the person saying it. Perlocutionary utterances are anything that requires a reply or can elicit a conversation.
