While overhead projectors are diminishing, there are still advantages to using one such as: it focuses students? attention, they can be used for timed reading or gap fill exercises, and they can be kept and reused. Some disadvantages include they can be troublesome to set up or the classroom size may not be a good fit with the projection size. Visual aids such as objects and pictures are useful because they can illustrate meaning without explanation, they attract attention, and they can be used as prompts for exercises or games. Worksheets can be made by a publisher or the teacher and can be used to act as a prompt, for communication activities, and for reading/grammar/vocabulary exercises. When using audio or video examples, it?s good to keep in mind the purpose of using such material. They?re good for stimulating discussion and motivating students. It's important for teachers to make good use efficiently out of all the resources and materials available. Proper preparation and consideration of all factors, advantages and disadvantages, of each resource should be done in order to use them effectively during the lesson.
