I've not actually had experience of teaching business English, but I find myself agreeing that sometimes, no matter how many great ideas the teacher has, his main point there is to teach English that the student needs. The 'needs questionnaire' is a great idea. I also have to agree that it is much more beneficial to students, especially young learners, to learn in a multilingual class. That way they can only communicate with their classmates in English and it makes their progress so much faster. From my experience, I am more specialised in teaching adults, preferably starting from elementary or pre-intermediate level. Total beginners would sometimes require me to use their native language or spend most of the lesson miming or drawing things. Children are tough to teach and more time goes into preparation as they always need various activities to keep them engaged and entertained throughout the lesson.
