When it comes to the teachers, the Unit differentiates good teachers and the successful ones. In order to be a good teacher it is preferred that the one owes both professional and personal characteristics such as ability to motivate, ability to establish interaction (relations teacher ? student(s); student - student), having a good subject knowledge, being passionate about teaching, being enthusiastic and patient, etc. In order to be a successful teacher, apart from the previously mentioned characteristics, it is crucial to combine different teaching roles promptly, according to the contents taught as well as activities. For example, if the teacher wants to present new topic for the first time he/she should take on the role of a manager/controller, if he/she wants to review some previously learnt topics and wants to organize activities which include independent (individual or collaborative) type of classwork the emphasis should be on the roles of an organizer, facilitator and observer. When talking about learners, the Unit takes into consideration their age and level of proficiency. Adult learners are usually more self-motivated, linguistically aware, but also more nervous about making mistakes, whereas younger learners are more likely to absorb language from the context rather than to match it with their native language, but lack learning and life experience and often have behaviour problems. Level of proficiency shows certain amount and range of acquired language skills and according to that learners may be differentiated as well. What I?ve learnt: in order to achieve a good class, both teachers and students should cooperate. That means that the teachers should bring up all the positive personal and professional characteristics, whereas students should follow teachers? instructions and give their best in their learning process.
