This unit was very helpful to me because it enhanced my interest in preparing effective lesson plans. I actually began reflecting on the various visual aids teachers and professors have used when I was a student and I was pleasantly surprised to be reminded of the overhead projectors. I think it is a shame that these have become outdated because I do remember the sheets being very effective visual aids. What I think I would like to do as a teacher if I have the opportunity to work in a location that has an interactive white board, is to consider a way to use the white board that is similar to the goals of what an overhead projector would do. Int he same way, I think that reflecting on effective ways to use overhead projector sheets would help me to make a very clear and useful powerpoint aid. I understand that this may seem a bit strange, however, I believe that the overhead projector is such a straight forward visual aid that I believe considering this aid and ways I have seen it used as a student will actually help me to use more modern technologies even more effectively. I think that the disadvantage of modern technology which allows us to project a computer screen is that improvisation can become very easy. Therefore, the inclination and necessity to accurately prepare lessons ahead of time declines. The overhead projector sheets are not interactive and therefore, you must think those exercises through very carefully. I think that remembering this tool and considering the importance of pre-planning will really help me to create effective lesson plans and visual aids. Finally, I really appreciate the suggestion to avoid using capital letters. I would have made such a mistake if it was not explained in this chapter that capital letters are often harder to read. Also, I like that the unit explained that all writing on the board should reflect natural writing.
