This unit focused on the 4 types of English present tenses, specifically looking at their forms, usages, typical students errors, and ideas for Activate stage lessons. The present simple focuses on habits, routines, and directions and uses don't for the negative, do or does for the question form and take an s or es ending for the 3rd person singular form. The present continuous is used for actions in progress or developing situations. It is formed with the auxiliary for of the verb be. There are some verbs which cannot be in continuous form, such as expressing mental actions, thoughts, and feelings. The present perfect tense is used to talk about completed past actions in an unfinished or indefinite time periods, or for actions that began in the past, is still true and is unknown if it will continue into the future.It is formed with the auxiliary for of the verb have, plus the past participate of the verb. There are many past participates that are irregular. The present perfect continuous is formed with the have form plus been plus the ing form of the action verb. It's usages include to communicate incomplete and ongoing activity and to desctribe recently finished activity with present result.
