Unit sixteen is about reported speech and conditionals. Reported speech is basically when someone quotes another what another person said, while using a form that is not a direct quote. This involves applying a series of changes to the original sentence so that the original meaning and timeframes are still respected at the time of the report. This unit describes all the rules, along with possible mistakes that are often made. Conditionals, instead, deal with sentences that have conditions to be satisfied along with a possible consequence. There are five types of conditionals. The so called \"zero\" conditional expresses irrefutable facts or extremely likely outcomes. The first conditional is used for a real future outcome that is very likely once a given situation is satisfied. The second conditional expresses a hypothetical consequence of a condition that is not true at the moment and is unlikely to ever become real. The third conditional works in the past, expressing a hypothetical past consequence of an hypothetical past action or condition. The last one is the so called \"mixed\" conditional and expresses what the consequence of an hypothetical past action could have been now in the present.
