Unit 19 covers differing groups of students with tips and techniques in how to best instruct them. There are varying beginner groups such as the true beginner that knows absolutely nothing in English, the false beginner, who studied English a long time ago but did retain the language, the adult beginner who is motivated, the young student learner and the beginner who has a non-Roman based alphabet. For the absolute beginner, patience and going slow was emphasized along with offering a lot of enccouragement. For adult learners and students of business English there was an emphasis on assessing the needs of the student at the beginning of the course. For young learners emphasis was on short and varied language to hold studtent's interests. Reflecton upon which group preference one would want was also brought up along with adhereing to institutional rules of corporations that may hire you because they pay more money than the average clientele and therefore have much higher expectations. I personally prefer being a tutor, which is why I am taking this course and have already started my own tutoring business. I enjoy teaching individuals and working with adult students as a partner in teaching them.
