This unit offers important outlines of how to evaluate students. The assessment needs to concern both teacher and learners and should be a compromise between an ongoing feedback and a more formal evaluation. The unit includes the explanation of three types of assessment: tutorials, evaluations by the students, and tests. It then focuses the attention on tests, which can be implemented at different stages throughout the course. It is possible to have placement and diagnostic tests to check students' entrance level, progress tests, and practice tests in order to apply for external examinations such as TOEFL, IELTS, and the Cambridge Certificates.
