In this unit, we learnt about the different past tenses: simple past, continuous past, perfect past, perfect continuous past. For the simple past you add 'd' or 'ed' to the verb, except for the many irregular verbs many irregulars, such as catch/caught, do/did, be/was/were. For the continuous past you add was/were and 'ing' to the end of the verb. For the past perfect you use the subject plus had plus the past participle. For the past perfect continuous you use the subject plus had plus been plus the verb plus 'ing'. For me, this has been the most challenging unit yet, as I find it hard to remember why you use certain forms for certain contexts.
