This unit has focused on tenses and their usage in life. There were some important areas like forms, errors that students often make, and teaching ideas. Present simple if one of the essentials that we can't get without when using English in life. Sentence is consisted of subject+ verb (object). What students often forget about is adding -s when talking about third person singular. Another common mistake is mixing present simple and continuous. We use present simple when we talk about routines, facts etc. Present continuous is a tense which we need when we want to talk about something that is happening at the moment. Subject + verb be + verb -ing There are some non progressive verbs such as love, like, believe, hear etc. When using these verbs in present continuous, we usually use the simple form. Usages of present progressive are various. We use it when we talk about an action that is happening at the moment, when we want to empathize frequent actions, when referring to actions that are happening in the background events of the present story. Present perfect is a tense that is not that \"popular\" among students. It's a little bit more complicated. Form: subject +have/has+ verb in past participle There are few usages of present perfect. We use it when we refer to something that happened and it's unfinished. We also use it when we talk about actions at an indefinite time. Or when we talk about something that happened in the past and is still true now. And when we describe past actions that have results into present. We can make students use the present perfect through activities - what have you done today? / Have you ever been to...?/ Find someone who has... Present perfect continues Form- subject + aux. verb have/has + past participle verb We use it when we are talking about an incomplete activity. When we want to say that something hasn't finished yet. Students have tough times with verbs like - like/love/believe, because they tend to add -ing to it.
