There are three different times in English; past, present and future. Each of these times have four aspects;simple, continous, perfect and perfect continous. The simple present takes the affirmative form of ;subject+base form(+s/es).For example;i work.It also takes the negative form of (subject+aux verb\"do\"+not+base form). For example;i don't work.It can also take the form of question(aux verb\"do\")+subject+base form. For example;do I work? The present continuous tense is made with the present tense of the auxiliary verb to BE and the present participle(verb+ing-working)of the main verb.It takes the form of ; affirmative:(subject+aux verb'be'+verb+ing). For example;i am learning. negative:(subject+aux verb'be'+not+verb+ing). For example;i am not learning. question;(aux verb'be'+subject+verb+ing). For example;am I learning? The present perfect relates the past to the present. It takes the form of; Affirmative;(subject+ aux verb\"have\"+past participle). For example;I have written. Negative;(subject+aux verb\"have\"+ not +past participle. For example;I haven't written. Question;(aux verb\"have'+subject+past participle). For example;Have I written? The present perfect continuous relates past activities to the present. It implies that either the activity is likely to continue in the future or the activity was in progress for some length of time or both.It takes the form of; Affirmative;(subject+aux verb\"have\"+been+verb+ing).For example;I have been sleeping. Negative;(subject+aux verb\"have\"+not+been+verb+ing).For example:I haven't been sleeping. Question;(aux verb\"have\"+subject+been+verb+ing).For example:Have I been sleeping? I learnt that a good way to use the present continuous is to provide students with graphs, charts or tables to describe any changes.I also learnt that we use the present perfect to communicate the number of things we have done.
